And also in Lugano… party….. and cakessssss
Thanks to Sibylle for making the wonderful chocolate cake in the picture and the americani sweets, wonderful!
The dinner at the japanes resaurant was not really good, they’ll never see me there again and I can suggest all my friends not to go to the restauran Tokio in Como: very bad service and I also felt sick after having sushi, it certainly was the old raw octopus. bha! Never mind, the party was good anyway and again doesn’t seems so bad to me ;-)

Venice in the fog

Last weekend I started the Birthday party roadshow…

We started the adventure saturday morning at the swiss border: “Stop please, nationality?” And my simple answer “Italian, Swiss, Chinese and German”!
And the policeman answer “Mizzega che miscuglio che ha fatto. Vada vada” ;-)
And I’m ready for a crazy weekend with Rahel, Lily and Sybille! First stop Desenzano, then Sirmione, on lake Garda.
For the evening we prepared ethinic dinner for my friends (11 people): pulao, chicken tikka, palak panner, chinese noodles, and italian food by Benedetta (it was also her birthday): pinzimonio, pizzette, olive, torte salate… and of course a big cake!!

Sunday we head to Venice, the magic incredible city, but… oh… what’s wrong?? So much fog I can’t even see the San Marco Basilica!!! It’s a magic atmosphere…

Very cool but you know, it’s Italy! On the way back we buy a ticket for a boat ride back to the train station, pay 6,5€ ( I repeat: 6,5 euros for one ride) and wait wait wait… so cold… where’s the damned boat, we’ll miss the train… Okay let’s ask some information. Obious answer “Don’t you see the fog? How can the boat come! It’s not running today.” and me: ” Okay sir but why did you sell me the ticket and didn’t tell me that the boat is not running?????????? I want my money back” and you know they always have some good answer “no it’s not possible because some boats are actually working, you can take another one”. Okay thanks a lot but I need to be at the train station in 30 minutes grrrrrrr… the only solution is to run run run … man i’m tired… the train is leaving in 10 minutes…. run run run…. five minutes….. run faster………… puff cought the train but are nearly dead! Ok reverse cultural shock, I need to go back to Switzerland because I can’t stand Italy anymore for more than 24h!!!!!

Varese

Today I visited the small city of Varese in northern Italy, just a few kilometers from the border. Every third sunday of the month there is a nice market of local farmers, selling home made cheese, salami, honey, flowers, etc. We also had the luck to have traditional music as you see in the pictue :-) We bought some cheese with chili and coriandol, which sounds very exotic to be traditional homemade products! In Varese is also nice to visit the Giardini Estensi.

This weekend I took my colleague Lili for her first visit of Italy. Here in the picture we’re enjoying pizza near the Lonato del Garda fortress, with Silvia and Luca.

Museo delle Culture

February 3, 2008 at 7:53 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments
Today I went for a nice walk up to the Museo delle Culture in Castagnola (Lugano), but it was quite disappointing!
The museum is really small and though expensive (8 CHF the reduced and12 the normal ticket, jezzz). There is a temporary exhibit on mahatma ghandi which is basically just 20 pics of India of 1930, and that’s it. However the sourrondings of the museums are nice, directly on the lake, as you see from the picture.
